True Classic
There is the summary of my electronic speedometer conversion.
I used a speedometer from a Fiat Punto MK1 and European X cluster who integrate oil pressure gauge, also speedometer sensor from Volkswagen.

I used the "Speedo Healer" for the calibration between Volkswagen speed sensor and the Fiat Punto electronic speedometer.

I also took the time to do the LED conversion of the cluster.

I replaced the EGR pilot light for radiator fan monitor when running.

NICE WORK!

Lights up like Christmas! :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

It's no secret I can appreciate all the work you put into your cluster.
End results look great. I hope the speedo adjustment works out hassle-free.

Very nice work. I was looking on eBay for a cluster to do one like that but I see the expense of a used unit is near the same as buying a Marshall unit. Advantage of yours is that you don't have to change out the tacho to match.

Great Post Yves, thanks for sharing!

WOWOWOWOWOW...

You must be snowed in more than Bob!

Great effort with outstanding results.

I usually use local law enforcement to let me know just how fast I'm going though. I understand they calibrate their radar guns quite frequently...

And here is my WOW

My appreciation upon the completion of a rather complicated project.
Looks great and well documented.
Many thanks,

Enjoy -

Question about board

Is this part of the Punto cluster? My friend just bought a cluster on eBay UK for me and I need to let him know what parts to extract and send.

I used a Dymo print label model "LabelManager PnP" there is link: http://global.dymo.com/enCA/Products/LabelManager_PnP.html

The cartridge is white on clear.

Dymo label printer permit small graphic print. Fan logo find it on google .

I scratch with an X-Acto the paint to be removed on the plastic bezel logo.

After I cleaned the plastic bezel with Acetone, not too much because Acetone will melt the plastic you must be careful with Acetone.

Last step apply the fan logo on the plastic bezel and trim with X-Acto.

Good luck

Now this is cool

Kudos to you Yves!

Like others, I'd be interested to hear of your calibration result.

I suspect the retrofit of the electronic sender could be applicable to many other autos.

Thank you everybody for your encouragement.

At the beginning of April I will be able to give you feedback about the calibration.

For the calibration I will use my GPS for reference.
See you soon :D

Thank you

for your response, I'm getting all the bits together to do this mod myself now. Looks like it is well worth the effort.

Very cool. Do you have a schematic for the wiring? Is that daughterboard the only other piece needed out of the punto cluster to run the speedo?

So,

1) VW sensor, adaptor for speedo gear?
2) Speed healer (from where?)
3) Punto speedo & daughterboard
4) Sensor socket & wiring (pre assembled pigtail, or from individual parts?)
5) Wiring for Speed healer?

Great work

This is really inspiring - thanks for posting, and with such detailed pictures.

A couple of questions spring to mind :
- why did you choose the Volkswagen sensor (was it just one you had, or did you select it for a reason) ?
- how does the speed healer connect in to the rest of it - I guess it's not a straight 'plug & play' situation ?

Can't wait to hear about your calibration.

And to think I almost bought a new speedo cable last weekend, but held off. Glad I did now !
