Fan belts for a 86 with A/C

I had a lot of help this weekend and we changed the timing belt and got the new master brake and clutch cylinders working. To change the timing belt we cut off the old belts on the bottom pulley since the front pulley was stuck on.

I did get the pulley apart on the bench, but now it is time to reinstall the belts.

HELP!

How do the belts go on an X1/9 with A/C?

lower (main) pic indicates layout. Adjustment is off the split crank pulley (12) shims (4).

Whoops, scratch that, that was for the water pump belt!

From a pic in the shop manual, it looks like there are adjustment slots in the compressor mounting bracket arms, viewable from under the car.

I seem to remember that the compressor pivots on the lower arms:

and that the adjustment slots are in the top arms:

Unless it was a 79

In which case it would pivot on the lower bracket with adjustment slots on the top.:hmm2:
