    More pregrid.

Scott is ready to go, Ulix is staying in the car as long as possible before the start to keep warm.

    MORE ACTION SHOTS BY DANIEL

The racers' home base, Scott's house

This is the race car that Scott had prepared for MNCS.  If you squint, you can see that the studded tires are low on air. One leaf of the rear spring has been removed and the front springs replaced with blocks of wood to insure "predictable" and "safe" understeer under all conditions.  While the motor DID smoke heavily, it ran respectably considering the fact that it only had compression on 2 cylinders.  It was powerful enough to make the worn clutch slip!
It probably gave Steve an unfair advantage, but Scott did allow him to fix the busted second gear the night before the race...

Thank to all of you guy who made this stupid, crazy event, a
memorable one. And special Thanks to Scott who fed us and gave us
a place to sleep over the week-end. You are a really nice guy and
a good friend to have Scott. -Daniel Forest

Despite the weather, the long drive, and the "interesting"
course design, I had a good time!  The rematch ale was top
    notch. -Mark Seelbinder

I should have bring these couch's springs for Scott's car... -Daniel Forest
    Scott,

Your hospitality is top shelf, as well as your home brew! I
only wish we could have all traded all the cars.
The weekend was well worth the trip. I love these guys! I'm
also looking forward to the next time we can all get together. -Geoff Craig

I had the pleasure of having some of the best racing talent in
N.A. this past weekend, and I can tell you, it's the most fun
I've had since FFO.   What a weekend.  Steve was more than
willing to give a demonstration of trannies and their internal
workings, and we tore one down on my coffee table.  Unbelievably
    informative, and very cool.

Geoff is a funny-ass guy.  I couldn't believe he and Mark towed
as far as they did for the event.  That's called dedication.  (or
insanity......)  Mark's car is just so nice, and he let me take
it on a fun run.  Thanks Mark, now I know what real race tires
    are like!  :)

Daniel and Amir showed up, looking a little cramped, with two of
them in an X1/9, with stiff springs, gear strapped to the
trunklid. The car was loaded right full.  Amir is scary fast.
You're not supposed to be able to jump in a car you've never
driven and come in 2nd.  (overall in the event!)  Daniel brought
    beer, and boomerang!   :)

Ulix, flies all the way in from Seattle, just to meet the guys,
and try out some different cars.  Great to have you come out, I
    really enjoyed seeing you again!

And Russ........  The "cheater"   :)   I'm out getting pizza on
saturday afternoon to feed the crew, and I come back and I can
tell everyone is hiding something.  Then I walk in and put the
pizza on the table, and I can tell they're laughing at me.  Now,
what kind of sour joke have they just pulled on me, in my
absence.  Hmm.....   A few minutes go by, and I realize that Russ
is wearing an official "Rematch '99" T-shirt.  Then another
minute goes by, and I realize so is everyone else.  sheesh.......

Russ made up a batch of T-shirts for the event, with an outline
of VT, a pic of my yugo, and "rematch '99" on the logo.  Way too
cool, and only a guy like Russ could be responsible for this
great thing.   Oh, and Steve's reads "MNCS"   :)   MNCS also got
to drive home after dinner fromt he autocross in a snow squall,
on bald Yokos.   Methinks the next rematch will be south of the
    arctic circle.  :)

I couldn't have asked for a better bunch of guys to come and
visit, hang out, BS, and race against.  I thoroughly enjoyed the
weekend guys, thanks for making it happen.

Truly a world class bunch of folks.

    where's the next event?   :)

    Scott Phelps

I will remember this effort more as a torpedo missile thrown at a
local club, than as a real match between us. We had a chance to
test the cars on the road, try them again during the fun runs and
race together. We we're happy for each other results and we were
working as a team against all the other competitors. -Daniel Forest
