I had read somewhere about handling issues, particularly in the wet, and that Lancia had so many problems that the pulled the car from production for a few years. The "solution" was to remove the brake booster, which "eliminated" the problem of the ends swapping by decreasing brake performance. Wherever I read this claimed that was a poor solution to the problem, and that while it helped address the issue of ends swapping it resulted in really poor braking.
When I posted earlier, I just had a vague memory of the problem. The comment about removing the brake booster brought back more detail into my head.
Of course, coming from an article (likely written by a motor journalist), and not from an owner, the issue may be portrayed worse than it is.
