Aluminum casting

True Classic
Just found my first attempt in aluminum casting. (Gypsum mold wasn’t dry enough, that’s why one of jaguars looks more lika a wizard o_O )

Was the mold taken from a original part? Tell us how you did the whole process...very cool stuff.

Yes, took of from original, wanted to make copies for profit, but friends recommended to not make any copies of others design..

First took off molds in cheap gypsum, each half separately. Dried molds, waxed them with vaseline, poured in paraffin. Made smooth finish to paraffin model. (if I remember correct - paraffin model was made because original model was not in excellent finish molds for it was with little offset). Took off molds from paraffin in gypsum for casting. Dried it on oven with hope it will be enough - wasn't. Serios oven is needed - like for ceramics.
For some rough castings it is much easier - can make model from expanded polystyrene, put it in sand, and just pour in aluminium, good/fast way if quality allows sand in aluminium..
