I am a slacker compered to some of you guys. From the top in the order I can remember:

First car was a 1969 Mustang coupe, 6cyl
76 Cutlass Supreme
1980 X1/9 (bought new, carb version sadly)
1982 Mazda 626 (bought new)
1968 Pontiac Catalina wagon (bought from dad for cheap transport)
1969 Mustang coupe, V8 this time
1984 VW GTI (bought new)
1985 full size Blazer
1987 Starion
1984 Econoline 150 conversion van
1992 Econoline 150 conversion van
1978 X1/9
1979 X1/9
1998 Econoline 150 conversion van
1986 X1/9
2003 Honda Pilot (bought with 181,000 miles on odo)
1985 X1/9
1972 124 Special

That's all I can recall. Still have the Pilot (242,000 miles now!), 78X, 85X and 72 124 Special.

Lots of stories in that list. I bought that Catalina wagon from dad because I found myself in financial trouble. Finished college, moved out of parent's home, traded in my X on a new 626 (DOH!), then reality set in in the form of rent, utilities, food, car payments, etc. Sold the 626 at a loss and got the wagon for $400 since it was in dad's way. Drove it and the 2nd Mustang for 2 years till I got my bills paid. Both it and the 'stang were on their last legs. Needed both cars to have one running at a time. It was painful, but an excellent life lesson.

Love the Econoline vans. This was the era of my kids growing up. I went and looked at minivans and then the full size. No contest in my eyes and used Econoline conversions were everywhere for great prices. They make excellent tow vehicles as well.

2002 Acura RSX Type-S (new)
2010 Mustang GT (new)
1980 Fiat Spyder 2000 still own

Don't know where you got that idea from my post. What I said was that I left off a lot of cars that were either parts cars, or cars I didn't drive on a regular basis, such as those owned by wife/kids.

I have driven a lot of cars in my life. The only ones on my list were ones I owned and drove on a regular basis.

1978 Ford Fiesta
1980 Ford Fiesta
1980 Fiat X1/9
1986 VW Golf (New)

2000 VW Golf (New) (Still own, its leaving this month or next)
1984 VW Jetta GLI
2004 Toyota Sienna (New) (Still own, its leaving this month)
1992 Mazda Miata (Still own) My wife’s fun car also known as a Fiata...
1987 Bertone X1/9 (Still own)
2018 Jeep Compass (New) (Just picked it up last week) My wife’s new year round car.

Soon to buy a 2018 VW Golf GTI (sometime this spring or summer) My next year round car.

I tend to keep some of my cars a long time. My first Golf I had for 15 years, the Passat for 15, my current Golf coming up on 18 and the Sienna is coming up on 15. My 850 I have had for 28 years, the 124 Sport Coupe for 26 and my 85 X for 25. The Miata and the Fiats are keepers, the “new” cars will be kept as long as they are safe and we can still drive them. I expect the Jeep and the GTI will be our last new manual transmission cars we will be able to buy new the Sienna is the first automatic transmissioned car we have had since we have been together.

When we first met, my wife had a 1980 Mustang, 4 cylinder automatic. What a POS. We traded it on a Fiesta with a manual transmission she didn’t know how to drive. I taught her to drive a manual transmission car in a cemetery ( a Hertz rental back when they had such things), I figured she couldn’t hurt anyone and if she made a mistake they wouldn’t need to take us far to plant us.
