Revised engine with sports camshaft backfires

True Classic
My uno turtbo 1.3 backfires a bit. When i rev up and then let go. I have a sports cam with standard setup. So valves are open a bit longer. I have the impression everything is set as documented. Camshaft lines up with housing, camshaft pully mark and 0 degrees on flywheel. Ignition advance around 8 degrees with microplex on vacuum.
Did not check the co yet.

What do I need to check first? So i need a variable camshaft pulley with this camshaft?

Easiest first. I'd make sure the intake manifold is completely in tact, and that the nuts securing the manifold(s) are secure. Surpisingly, leaks here or with the carb mounting (base) are often the reason for the "back-farting".

Solved already. The leads to cylinder 2 and 3 were switched. Don’t believe the printed numbers on the cap.
