1968 Fiat 850 Berlina Abarth replica - $9500 (NOT MINE)

True Classic
This guy keeps re-listing the same ad any time its about to expire. It looks like a neat car, and some part of me keeps thinking about adding a hard topped car to compliment my Xs - seems pretty high priced for a car that "needs minor tweaks" but I'm curious what others think:

And if anyone is interested, hey, cool car (I'm not holding dibs or anything here :))

HA!

I'm pretty sure this same car was for sale on eBay & featured on Bring-A-Trailer almost 3 years ago, but for "only" $8k or so? I distinctly remember lots of folks poking fun at all of the cheesy "Abarth" decals all over it, the center stripe, bad choice of wheels, big fog/driving lights on front & the fact that it's otherwise just a plain 850 Sedan (it is most definitely 100% NOT an Abarth). Those mid-fender mirrors appear to be a "new" (though hideous) addition. :rolleyes2:

WAY overpriced at $8k then, the current $9.5k is pure crackhead pricing. :eyepop: And the car STILL hasn't even been registered yet??? (not since '84, same story 3 years ago).

Strip all the crap off of it, get the registration up-to-date, call it a Fiat 850 (not Abarth) & take 4k-5k off the price, & you have a nice car that should sell to the right enthusiast.

Ah, just found the old BAT feature: http://bringatrailer.com/2010/12/30/abarthed-1968-fiat-850-berlina/

Why bother?

The seller should pay more attention to use the word "replica".

Whether they use the phrase "tribute car" or the word "replica", neither one is accurate. A replica car would need to have the "correct" type of Abarth parts & Abarth modifications done to it in order to resemble (replicate) the original Abarth car. This particular car has nothing done to it like this. It's just a poorly-thought-out, uncoordinated mess. :2c:
