RED X19

Looks like it needs a LOT of work. But, if it is priced right, may be worth rebuilding.

Consider the entire motor including the turbo to be rebuilt. There may have been rain water going into the engine for a long time :(

Can't see any detail in terms of body rot in the pics, how is it? Looks OK overall.

Shame the motor was left open as pointed out it will likely need much work. Presumably you are planning on pulling the head at least?

<snip>
Worst of all is that someone has stolen absolutely all wiring, so I'm planning to buy a car for donor
<snip>
As I haven't ever drive x1/9 I would like to make fast and easy engine swap and put all the wiring from some donor.
<snip>
Is this 1,6 cabrio a good donor?
A donor car other than another X1/9 is not going to be of much use if the wiring harness is what you need. The circuits are different, most connectors are not the same etc.

Congratulations on your X1/9! The Punto 1.6 engine can be fitted in the X1/9, probably worth considering as sadly the Uno Turbo engine might be past repair if it has had rainwater in it. For wiring, unless you can get a late model wiring loom from a donor X1/9, I would recommend using aftermarket wiring and fuseboxes, using a late X1/9 diagram as your guide. This is what I am doing as the loom in my car was cut to bits:

Could You please tell, will that punto 1,6 engine fit with x19 original mountigs?
If not - which fiats engine does?

The 1.6 will fit the same as the 1.5, using the X1/9 engine mounts and gearbox. It needs some modification if you want to add a turbo though, as the compression ratio is a bit high (you can get low compression pistons) and you will need to get an oil feed for the turbo from the front of the engine, by teeing off the oil pressure sender.

It's hard to tell from your photos but you should have an X1/9 camshaft housing as this has the correct lugs to mount the "dogbone" mounting on the top of the engine.

In pictures is punto cabrio.
Upper engine mountings ar different. I can take old ones from uno engine plug and play, or I need to make mountings by myself?
A big plus seems thet exhaust manifold is in the rear side of engine.

All these SOHC engines from X1/9, Uno and Punto (but not the FIRE engines) are basically the same. These photos shows an X1/9 engine "snail" mount fitted to a Punto engine. It is tight with the Punto's poly-Vee belt, but you can use the Uno crank pulley, pump and alternator instead to use a single Vee belt.

Bought today that punto. Will put engine and all wiring from it, understand that it will need to be modified to fit x19.

That turbo from uno turbo engine - is it worth considering to put on punto engine? Or better start with stock engine?

That exhaust is something special? Guy who sold me x19 told that mister Ferarri stand near by it when it was made :D

Some weekends will be spent on body work befor start punto swap.

Just wanted to say Welcome Mr. Mini... You do indeed have a BIG project on your hands.

Turbos, most folks LOVE them and when ALL the sensory items and programming are in tune... they work fabulously for almost FREE horsepower gains. Alas, it appears your Uno turbo engine has had many parts "harvested" and the specialized wiring as well. Turbos can always be ADDED at a later date and if this was mine, I would concentrate on the 1.6 Punto swap.

Good luck and keep those fotos coming.

Tried to make a new keys from ignition sistem, of course some little things felt on the floor :D

Started this evening this corner, one of my favorite.

Didn't expect that rear glass can be taken out so easy. How complicated is with front one? It looks that abrasive blasting will be needed underneath the car and some other corners.

Saw somewhere that poster where 2 girls ar hanging aluminum fronted of X19, were they really manufactured?

OH MY LORD!

1. Ya know you can start at the rear edge and GENTLY lift the chrome (SS?) molding that covers the "pinch weld" that goes up and over the Targa Bar. SAVE the small connector piece too and tape them all together, reinstall after the car is painted.

2. Yes the rear "backlight" comes out very easily, but the front windshield is another story. If you are replacing it, then you need not be careful. In either case, carefully CUT out the trim (SS?) and remove it entirely. Save it to be GLUED back in place later. If you wish to SAVE the windshield, use an AWL or an ICE PICK to carefully dig a hole through the sealant and rubber that holds the glass in place. Then, with WIRE SAW... and hopefully some help, saw the sealant and rubber around the glass and with EVEN pressure, push it out. Then scrape and clean the "tray" of all the gunk. When reinstalling, best to use the butyl rubber or black sealant as an NEW BASE and SEAL for the glass. Place two or three pieces of wood or cardboard on the bottom of the tray so the glass is suspended off the bottom edge about 1/4 inch, and centered left and right as well. Now fill the remainder of the gap OVER the glass as well with sealant and then replace the SS trim... squishing it into the sealant. Tape in place, clean up with lacquer thinner.

3. Nope, but what an idea!

This actually only the nose of the car... and I do believe a few made it into a complete car but as a prototype or show car only. What a trade trade off for the hp offered, huh! Imagine the entire car weighing in at 1100 - 1200 pounds!

Thanks, took chrome trim off. Knew that it won't be so easy with front one :D

Can I somewhere find how looks all body panels - to understand how car has been built? Found something strange on towers, there where 3 layers of metal.
Strange because third layer is dot welded and who had done that. Some info would help me to make patches more authentic. Can't figure out here how it lookalike.

Maybe will take off molds and make both rear rusty covers from aluminum, and will how good it will result.

Hmm, nice work on those rear lower corners- how hard was that to pull off? Did you use two pieces to make the approximate shape?
Nice work so far, afraid I can't answer any of your questions- just ask ;).

Only one piece of steel, bigger than needed in the end, need a tube 8-15cm diameter. Put plate on tube and start patiently bounce needed shape, beter if You use spherical hummer.

I hope that explained that You can understand :D

Hardest part was that rear lower valance yet, there is 5 years from I left work in metaldesign studio, slowly start remember little tricks. But welding on this is my first experience, specialist allowed that my skills are acceptable to not ruine the car.
