67 850 spider air cleaner color?

Anyone know the original color for an early 850 spider air cleaner? I’ve seen light gray/silver/primer color.

Funny, I have a bunch of articles from the '60s and '70s; I checked but the images showing the engine are all black & white; on cars with dark paint the air covers were lighter, guessing grey. I bought used spiders in '78, '79 & '96 and those were light grey too (buy by the time I got then the covers could have been repainted). ljf

So question: what does the thing on the header with a hose to the air cleaner do? Is is called a pre-heater? Thanks.

Yes, that is the pre-heater. The nob on the air cleaner just to the right of it would be moved to summer or winter positions; in the winter position some of the air drawn into the carb would pass over the header via the funky looking shroud. Warmed air from the shroud would also get drawn into the activated charcole cannister (below the coolant overflow tank in the picture above), regardless of the air cleaner knob position.
