70's/80's power pop for a lazy Saturday

Bye Bye Love...nice one!

Good God I LOVE the Cars music , but I wouldn't exactly call that "power pop" for that era though. Not that that's a bad thing.

How about this one from 78. For me, it's kinda like pics on xweb, if they don't do it well live, it didn't really happen :)

Styx...

Had a buddy originally from Illinois who went to school with a few of these guys and played in bands with them during their formative years. Not my cup o' tea but they did have some good songs.

Yep, Cars were a minimalist mix of "power pop" which is nothing more than melodious rock with a guitar/keyboard orientation, and I think that song - in particular - captures what they were all about.

Along with this one...

Love it! Not to be nit-picky, but yes, the song is from '78 off the Pieces of Eight (Renegade, anyone?) album. But that video is from the Caught in the Act tour of '83. Most people know it as Kilroy Was Here and focus on Mr Roboto - ok, so I'm a huge Styx fan. Blame my best friend. We used to listen to all the albums in his X back in the '80s!

Ok, how's this one grab ya?

Editorial note: Failure to love this song might cause me to question your authentic status as human and of this world...

You, sir, know your Styx stuff!

That's kinda like me with Kiss and Metallica...it's a gift, and a curse, lol.

Glad you enjoyed!
