Re: attendance-I really cannot say. First time I have ever attended, and at $230 a ticket most likely the last time!Do the events seem a bit subdued this year compared to in the past?
I started going in the late 80's, but stopped several years ago when things just got too crowded, to "social" vs cars, and too expensive.Been coming up since the 1990’s. It was a bit off everywhere.
It was a little smaller and more subdued than previous years. I heard there were about 600 cars. Normal amount is somewhere between 750 and 1000 cars. I've been attending Concorso Italiano since 1999. It's been at Blackhawk for several years and we were on a different part of the golf course this year.Do the events seem a bit subdued this year compared to in the past?
You are correct. That is Dan's 850 sedan. Sort of behind and up a bit of a hill was the newer Fiat area that featured 4 X1/9s, a gaggle of Fiat Spiders, a 2018 Fiat 124 Spider Lusso (mine) and a lovely 124 Coupe.Nice photos, thanks. I believe that's Dan Yee's turquoise '71 850 Sedan, & the blue 850 Familiare belongs to Mark Mitchell (that's Mark's red/white #65 motorcycle parked near the 850 Spider, as well).
All those pics and no pics of the SZ? Man those cars look great in person. I'd love to drive one....although I probably would never buy one. Tan interiors.
I was wondering if that was your Ballila, regrettably I did not get any decent pictures of it…it is very nice!I found out today that my Ballila got two photos in Autoweek https://www.autoweek.com/car-life/classic-cars/g37323724/concorso-italiano-2021/?slide=2
Yes, that was Dan's 850 Berlina, and Mark's 850. I see the 1200 TV I restored one owner ago, Pat Olsen's Allemano (was in Herbie goes to Montecarlo, note Brookie and I in the background), and the red supercharged Scorpion that also belongs to a long time Fiat America member.
I am glad to hear folks though attendance was down. I have the feeling that this event is evolving into something it was not years ago.
Chris, I'm guessing you are referring to the same sentiments I have. In my opinion the whole Monterey Car Week has evolved into something very different than it used to be. It used to be about cars. In more recent years it seems to be about people (and I mean that in a sarcastic way). Much like most of our society it has become more about how much money people can flash around, rather than their cars. I still enjoy going to car shows in general. And there are some fantastic events throughout the Monterey week. But I really miss the old times when it was a car show.I have the feeling that this event is evolving into something it was not years ago.
