Nice photos, thanks. I believe that's Dan Yee's turquoise '71 850 Sedan, & the blue 850 Familiare belongs to Mark Mitchell (that's Mark's red/white #65 motorcycle parked near the 850 Spider, as well).

I am back up in Monterey car week. Been coming up since the 1990’s. It was a bit off everywhere. The Sotheby‘s auction at Portola Plaza , was a little light. The Track on Friday, had 300 cars entered instead of the usual 500. Also the venders at the track were very few and fare between. At the memorabilia show at the Embassy suites, they had about 60% of the normal booths. As for Concorso, it also felt off, very few vendors and no judging. Al least in my Alfa section.
The Fiat and Lancia groups look light in the 1970’s and newer cars. Next year the X1/9 will be honored and Concorso , I will bring mine up

Been coming up since the 1990’s. It was a bit off everywhere.
I started going in the late 80's, but stopped several years ago when things just got too crowded, to "social" vs cars, and too expensive.

I figured this year might be light due to the whole virus thing. Hopefully next year will be better.

Do the events seem a bit subdued this year compared to in the past?
It was a little smaller and more subdued than previous years. I heard there were about 600 cars. Normal amount is somewhere between 750 and 1000 cars. I've been attending Concorso Italiano since 1999. It's been at Blackhawk for several years and we were on a different part of the golf course this year.

I'm willing to bet a certain amount of money virus fears kept the crowd smaller this year than previous years. I'm hoping next year will be better and feel more "normal."

You are correct. That is Dan's 850 sedan. Sort of behind and up a bit of a hill was the newer Fiat area that featured 4 X1/9s, a gaggle of Fiat Spiders, a 2018 Fiat 124 Spider Lusso (mine) and a lovely 124 Coupe.

All those pics and no pics of the SZ? Man those cars look great in person. I'd love to drive one....although I probably would never buy one. Tan interiors. :(

Obviously not in Monterey but rather Arese circa 1988 or 1989, I just happened to be driving by as this car went out for testing. I was always fascinated by these having bought a Milano (75) 3.0 new, a brilliant but flawed car IMO. The panel gaps on an SZ are huge, even by 1980’s standard…..then again they were not built to compete with a Lexus!

I found out today that my Ballila got two photos in Autoweek https://www.autoweek.com/car-life/classic-cars/g37323724/concorso-italiano-2021/?slide=2
Yes, that was Dan's 850 Berlina, and Mark's 850. I see the 1200 TV I restored one owner ago, Pat Olsen's Allemano (was in Herbie goes to Montecarlo, note Brookie and I in the background), and the red supercharged Scorpion that also belongs to a long time Fiat America member.
I am glad to hear folks though attendance was down. I have the feeling that this event is evolving into something it was not years ago.

I was wondering if that was your Ballila, regrettably I did not get any decent pictures of it…it is very nice!

Chris, I'm guessing you are referring to the same sentiments I have. In my opinion the whole Monterey Car Week has evolved into something very different than it used to be. It used to be about cars. In more recent years it seems to be about people (and I mean that in a sarcastic way). Much like most of our society it has become more about how much money people can flash around, rather than their cars. I still enjoy going to car shows in general. And there are some fantastic events throughout the Monterey week. But I really miss the old times when it was a car show.
