Alternator question

The big black one goes to the starter (hooks up to the green wire).. the purple (I think) is the exciter wire and that goes to the ault gauge in the instrument cluster.
 
On a stock set-up...

I think there are 3. Which one are you talking about?

On a GM 1-wire setup (if that's what you are converting to), it goes to the battery + terminal. You can tie into this at the big cable at the starter I believe.

Thanks for the info.

I am keeping it stock (70amp) for now. I just wanted to pull out the alternator to have it bench tested.
