Aluminum radiator leaking at different spots, a common thing?

Bummer paul. I went ahead and installed my 2nd BobG radiator in my very stock 86X. I don't think it improved the cooling too much, nothing like what I see in my 85X. Makes me wonder if the 85X has a thermostat in it, or maybe just a decent weep hole drilled in the thermostat itself.

Maybe the thermostat in de 85X is stuck open.
In my view when the thermostat is working correctly you can't see the extra cooling capacity.
The job of the thermostat is to keep everything at the same temperature.
Only when the radiator can't cool enough, the temperature gauge will rise.

I agree. Something is different with the 85. It could be no stat, stuck stat, or even just a flaky guage. Since it runs fine, I am not overly curious.
