The car has been sitting for 12 years and has 40,000 miles on it. It turned out to be a good original car and I decided to restore it as such. My question lies in the need for a good body man. I live in the Philly area and can't find anyone that wants to touch the car. The only rust is in the wells of the trunk. I could easily bondo but I have somewhat of an aversion to that. Anyone able to give me the name of a good shop ? Any info would be great Also I am in search of an original radio for it...it's got an old ugly pioneer in it right now.

    Thanks

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Body shops are out to make money and don't wanna play. Playing is what a FIAT is all about.

You'll need to FIND a CUSTOM or restoration shop in your area that will cut and weld... and YOU will need to VISIT them and find out for youself.

Unless you have a friend that has had a restoration done of a street rod or a classic and YOU have personally seen the repair... I would not take anyone elses "opinion". Most have no idea what a restoration is truly like.

But I regress... the trunk floor is the problem... Its a typical bad spot EVEN on a CA car!

And also typically NOT seen nor a STRUCTURAL problem... nor in my "opinion", worth a professional.

Have some new tin bent and welded or bonded in place... primer, then use UNDERCOATING... then recarpet or replace the rubber mat!

My 2 cents... but maybe ya wanna spend 500 bucks!

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Been there, done that. Even if you weld in new metal, you will need to put a skin coating of ICING (I don't use "bondo" brand... it's junk... Icing is a marine grade product) over it to smooth things out.

Icing... well if you have ever seen the movie pulp fiction, you'll know what I mean... it's more expensive, but when you use it, you'll know where that extra money went [IMG]
