Dream Show 8/28 at Farmington Polo Club looks to be a good one.

So I made the trek 90 miles to Farmington Ct to exhibit my ‘81 X at this years Dream Show. I read up a bit on it before attending and since it benefits so many worthy charities I thought why not give it a go. The car made the trip no problem, cruised along at 70 mph and before I knew It I had arrived. The place was huge. So many cars from so many eras. HyperCars, super cars, historic cars, fastest cars you name it they were there. I pulled in and they guided me to my spot alongside of an imitation. An ‘86 Fiero that had a 400hp LS motor in it with Upgraded suspension wheels and brakes. I heard the guy bragging that he had just done 140mph on the MassPike coming to the show. His car was good looking for sure. Then I roll in and begin to unpack and what rolls up next to me on the other side but a late model Ferrari from a dealer. Again the car was immaculate. I thought what sort of love will my 1.5L 40 year old Fiat get?? Boy was I wrong!! I had so many people stop and say how much they loved the car. So many people had such fond memories of “that little car they had or a friend had”. Even The guy who took my ticket stopped me to tell me the story of his best friend in high school who always drove it around town. No one mentioned mechanicals or “fix it again Tony” jokes or any of the usual nonsense people say. This was a car guy show. They knew the car for what it was not for what someone told them. No one confused it with an MR2 or any other car. Then the car show judges came by. First one judge, then 3 then 5. All had to come by and see it. Many wanted to see it because they hadn’t seen one in 30 years. One commented on how well preserved the car was. The other comments were that it was so unique in that there was no other cars in attendance like it. Mine was the only X that showed up. In fact there wasn’t another Fiat of any kind there at the show. One judge said that when he read the registrations for cars in coming to the show he had to find it to take a look at it. They were so impressed by its condition and its story of its restoration that they awarded it a First Prize trophy for its class. I was blown away as I wasn’t expecting much. No one stopped at the Ferrari as it looked common amongst all of the super cars and hyper cars that were there. I had a great time and for $30 you got a drive in parking spot amongst the greatest cars around and they served a great lunch in a huge air conditioned tent. What more could you ask for. I would highly recommend this show for anyone within driving distance.

Fantastic show, you X1/9 is very cool, nice that they have such a diverse group of cars.
