It is really fast in reverse. :)

The hazardous cargo placard on the back deck is also quite humorous.
 
When I moved here in 1980, there were several gearheads in my neighbourhood into Pinto & Vega V8 swaps. Still FUGLY cars no matter what you put in them, like most US models of that era :D
 
I had a '76 Pinto as my first car. The 2.3L was bullet proof. A drunk pulled out in front of me and wrote it off (it thankfully didn't catch fire) and his insurance settled for $35 less than I paid for it.

I heard the AMC Gremlins, Mustangs, and GM pick ups were also notorious for catching fire.

The mid '70s were pretty much the low water mark for car manufacturing.

True and yet some of the most desired cars come from that decade...

The lack of zinc for steel, a gas crisis and a lousy global economy made automakers do all kinds of stupid things...
