Custom air filter-Install

X-ing in Canada
Hi all,

a quick note to document that it is feasible to install a free flow air filter in about 5 minutes and with minimum cost.

Where and what to buy:
Canadian Tire (or anywhere they sell performance air filters)
I paid 29$ for mine : http://www.slickcar.com/products/SF100AL.jpg

AND

A simple (2 1/2 " to 1 1/2 ") rubber coupling adapter used in plumbing.
It is about 4 inches long and has 2 of those collars that you screw tight.

The air filter has a 3" hole in which you can fit the 2" side and tighten.
The 1.5" side fits nicely IN the existing air intake tube.

You just have 2 screws to take out, keep the 2" hose on the intake,
Plug in the air filter and aim down to fit (tightly) loged between the engine wall and the anti-freeze reservoir.

It really took me 5 minutes and the whole thing was installed.

Sorry if my explanation was confusing!

Good work, This has been done before but we never tire of...

... seeing new twists to an otherwise old solution.

Can you provide some photos... did you do a 90 degree turn or just a straight shot?

i'll get pics soon.

I used the curve in the existing hose, and a straight 4" adapter, and aimed the whole thing downwards.
