Door Jamb Switch

Michael Oxman

The Journey Begins!
Both of my door jamb switches are rusted and fused. I saw that MWB does not currently have them, and other places I'm finding have them at very high prices.

Wondering if anyone has replaced theirs with some universal fitting switch. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I've since found two on Ebay for a total of $15.99 shipped that I bought, but I'm still curious if anyone found an acceptable substitute. Thanks.

A number of Lada parts also fit the X1/9. Lada Power in the Ukraine is a good source for Lada parts, and perhaps this door jamb switch for Lada 2101 - 2107 and Niva would fit? If the eBay parts don't arrive, it could be worth a try. I have never bought anything from Lada Power, but others on these forums have.

I've purchased from Lada Power, the service is excellent and the parts were better quality than I expected (I suspect they are the very same parts sold by some Fiat specialists). Lada Power also offers the rubber seals that go behind these switches (which will fit the X). The parts prices on Lada Power are so low that you can gather up a list of various parts to buy (lots of stuff crosses over) to cover the shipping expense. If you only bought one or two items then the shipping cost may not be worth it. But by getting more items it makes it cost effective. So I buy some "spares" to help fill out the order. You might scroll through all of their listings to see all of the things that cross over to the X, there is stuff that you would not expect.

You could likely use the ones VW uses on the A4 chassis cars (1999-2005 Golf/Jetta) There is a one and a two wire version (so they ground remotely) and have a rubber boot, nice design. You would need to modify the opening.
