fiat x19 Saratoga top on FB MP Not Mine

And how much was your bid and the winner bid?
My bid was 1551.00 after that, I decided to make my own, I made my first TOP on 2007 when I saw this auction, I want this TOP I thought, and somebody won this auction, this was the PUSH to make my own.
Today I have two, my daily mule, and a pristine one in storage.

Have you made more of them since? That's a really great targa top.

He didn't want to ship, but he was at $800 with me. I could have arranged a pickup, but I'm kind of working a deal on a rare 348ts top that I want more--so kind of let the Saratoga dream go by the wayside for now.

I did miss out on a new Saratoga in the original box that was in Denver for $500 a couple of years back. I was second in line.

Honestly, I think they’d look better if the section that overlays the roof cross-brace behind the seats was blacked out, instead of being clear.

then there is the holy grail.
1 off made by Saratoga right before closing the business.

^^
Grail is made with similar framework like the original X1/9 Targa top that is on all our cars.
this was going to be the second generation Lexan X1/9 Saratoga top but the company went OOB before they could start production.

All the other Saratoga tops are the one piece "bubble" top.

Owner of the company actually owned an X1/9 so took this top for himself...time went by and he left it unused in his garage.
Years later he put it up on Craigslist around Clifton Park NY.

Priceless..

I have a Saratoga top and it stays on the car when the top is not off of course. Having the smoked top makes it more fun to drive when the top is on. I have been offered $1,500 for my top and easily refused it. To me, it is worth having and could not be easily replaced. I cannot imagine having one and packing it away in the basement, seems like a waste as they are not worth that much in the grand scheme of things. Life is short, enjoy.

I bought my Saratoga top for $50 ;)

Long story short, I was perusing craigslist in 2013 and came across a "x-1/9 targa top" forsale. While most of the pics looks like just a normal top, one pic had the top over a newspaper and you could see thru it. At that point, I knew what it was. I frantically drove to Petersborough (about an hour drive). The whole time, sweating it out thinking Bob Brown also saw the same ad and he was on his way as well. Luckily he must've slept in, and I picked it up for $50. The guy bought it in a storage unit sale. He obviously did not know what he had...

I got mine "free" with my 78 X1/9 purchase. :) I bought the X long distance from CA via Hemmings. The owner said "I have two targa tops for it and I will put the clear one in the frunk." I just said "OK" since I had never heard of a clear targa top. I didn't know what it was till Mac was talking about Saratoga tops and I realized I had one.

I'd love to have one, but since the X is one of ten or eleven cars, the only time I drive it really is with the top off. So in the end, I couldn't justify $850+, even though I'd love to have one.
