Does the same fuel line work for 87 X 1/9 as old Fiat 500 for the short hose on an X that comes right out of gas tank? Or what size hose is that and can I buy at a regular parts store?

Don't quote me, but I believe I used a 3/8" low pressure fuel line there (a good high quality hose with good clamps as well)

I'll have to look at the line to confirm. :)
 
The low pressure line from the bottom of the tank to the inlet of the fuel pump is 12mm, which is slightly smaller than 1/2". With fuel lines, best to get the right stuff, both from a size perspective AND a composition perspective. Today's fuel is murder on old-fashioned fuel line materials!
