To better distribute the weight by putting in on the wheels that do your braking and turning which helps prevent the front brake lockup issue, consider a fuel cell in luggage compartment. Mount fuel filter, pump and pressure regulator on front bulkhead. Relocate battery to floor and center best as possible to optimize weight placement.

By removing stock gas tank, opens space in engine compartment for better access to shift linkage, starter, crossmember, ....

I always thought the battery on the right side and the bulk of the motor on the right side balanced out the driver on the left.
 
Only issue I see is that to take full advantage of the weight distribution one shouldn't use any fuel. A less pretty option is to carry a bunch of bricks (and maybe the spare tire) in the trunk ;)
