Got the car going again....

    I got the ground cable changed (which was frayed and really filthy), jumped the car and got it down to the parts store so they could read the alternator.

    I believe he said 11.4 which he said there is something going on with the alternator.

    I did have that changed about 4 years ago. Going to sit tight and get the car in to be looked at.

    Yep, he was quite correct! 11.4 volts tells you the alternator is DEAD! :(
    Bad news, I'm afraid!

    You may have mentioned this in another thread, but when you turn on the ignition (but do not start the car), does the red "alt" light in the bottom of the voltmeter come on? It should, but if it does not you may have a wiring problem rather than a broken alternator.
