Follow the cables forward from the calipers to where they enter the floor pan. There is a rubber cover there, and inside is a tension adjustment. IMO- If you suspect a prob....disassemble it or replace it.
The piston WILL wind back into the caliper. It's a matter of technique. The wormscrew-receptorplate that actuates the piston is a peculiar sort of mechanism and short of a complete metal gall the piston WILL screw back in.
A word of caution- If you chose the Disassemble,Inspect,Rebuild route- A press or someone handy with a vise will have a fun time with pressing the shaft back into the caliper while maintaining the wedge in place. Fun little task...everyone has to try it at least once. lolololol
