If you're sure it's the starter, disconnect battery(+) cable at battery...disconnect heavy cable and small red wire at solenoid, remove three large bolts into the clutch housing and drop it out the bottom. You're right, it's not easy. Is the starter working at all? Are you pulling it to replace the spade terminal where the red wire connects?<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Once the backend is WAY up in the air the task of removing the starter is pretty easy. Five minutes maybe. The trick is getting the end WAY up in the air and real secure.
