These quotes are for CA, TWO 79 X1/9's, valued at 5,000 and 3,500, medical, uninsured motorists, $0 deductible Comp and Collision, 100/300 thousand limits. Most have auto coverage for new collector cars bought and unlimited mileage. Cars usually need to be 20 years old.
All want clear photographs... one wanted a notarized statement that kids would not drive it (under 25) and you weren't gonna race them.
Additionally... you MUST have another "regular" car and a fair driving record.

Anyway... hope this helps some of you folks... the THREE month rebate I get back on my old policy for ONE car will almost pay for the years premium on BOTH cars for next year.

I once built a VW and it wasn't ready for the road yet... so I didn't have it insured...
It was stolen outta my driveway... didn't loose much in cash but a lot of work and the heartache... as my daughter (then 15) helped me put it together... it was to be her car. Ended up getting it back 15 months later and another 20K on the clock... but was thrashed and running on three.
I learned my lesson...
I would think STEALing an X outta a garage on stands would be an EXTREMELY rare occurance though. So I guess ya wanna protect you investment against fire... as there would be no liability... and if you let the insurance lapse... I doubt if you could get coverage re-instated.
But I would behoove you to check with your agent and ask if you had a total loss... what would they pay?
That's the nice thing about these car collector policies... you AGREE on a price UP FRONT.
I'm afraid you'll need to get yours running first and then select a company that covers MODIFIED cars... but I bet you could get FULL coverage for what your paying now and a value of 7 - 10 grand!

Most cars in LA can be found, once stolen, within a 2 BLOCK area of the RAMPART POLICE STATION in the Silverlake District.
Crazy... they are usually just a SHELL of their former self... I was able to hot-wire my son's truck and drive it home though... 4 miss-matched tires and wheels with two lug bolts apiece and except for the seat... everything was gone... stereo, guages, lights, camper shell, TV, bed interior etc.
I paid $4900 new for the truck and got $6300 from the insurance company, two years old. But then Mom and him bought a new CIVIC for 10,400... I can't ever win!

Apparently they are really gun-shy about kids driving and autocross events... so they want NOTARIZED signatures stating ya won't do it!
Anyway... hope this helps some of you folks... the THREE month rebate I get back on my old policy for ONE car will almost pay for the years premium on BOTH cars for next year.

I once built a VW and it wasn't ready for the road yet... so I didn't have it insured...
It was stolen outta my driveway... didn't loose much in cash but a lot of work and the heartache... as my daughter (then 15) helped me put it together... it was to be her car. Ended up getting it back 15 months later and another 20K on the clock... but was thrashed and running on three.
I learned my lesson...
I would think STEALing an X outta a garage on stands would be an EXTREMELY rare occurance though. So I guess ya wanna protect you investment against fire... as there would be no liability... and if you let the insurance lapse... I doubt if you could get coverage re-instated.
But I would behoove you to check with your agent and ask if you had a total loss... what would they pay?
That's the nice thing about these car collector policies... you AGREE on a price UP FRONT.
I'm afraid you'll need to get yours running first and then select a company that covers MODIFIED cars... but I bet you could get FULL coverage for what your paying now and a value of 7 - 10 grand!

Most cars in LA can be found, once stolen, within a 2 BLOCK area of the RAMPART POLICE STATION in the Silverlake District.
Crazy... they are usually just a SHELL of their former self... I was able to hot-wire my son's truck and drive it home though... 4 miss-matched tires and wheels with two lug bolts apiece and except for the seat... everything was gone... stereo, guages, lights, camper shell, TV, bed interior etc.
I paid $4900 new for the truck and got $6300 from the insurance company, two years old. But then Mom and him bought a new CIVIC for 10,400... I can't ever win!

approx $450US for $2500US cover and I have to pay the first $600US of any claim made...
