Also the switched behind the gear lever changed in the 83 model year, but I assume you are talking about the three dots per spare switch. That was added in late 87. They are not just blank outs like earlier years but are functional if wired up.
Exterior changes includ the Speedline rims with 185/60-13 from the factory and side black mouldings in the recess.
One thing about this "88" is the lack of dotted material used for the seats and door panels. Very late 87's and 88 all have this from what I have seen.
It's very very rare here in the States.
