Lost access to emojis

I don't know why, but since a few week, the bar at the top of the dialog box is grey. I can't use it, not even emojis. I tried to look at preferences and other settings and nothing available. Maybe I'm penalized from using too many emojis....

I can't even leave a sad face on this message...
 
Try clicking the gear symbol at the right hand end of the bar, to toggle the functionality back on :)
