My project is assembled after 10 years

Fiatfiend

True Classic
Friends,

While it’s not exactly done, it is completely assembled. Looks OK and runs and drives great.

I did EVERY SINGLE thing myself, from modifications, to aligning with string, to sewing door cards, to extensive body work, to repairing collision damage, to buying paint equipment and painting it — the first car I ever painted. No training, no help.

I did receive tons of good advice from everyone here over the course of 10 years. And I want TO THANK EVERYONE VERY VERY DEEPLY. You are ALL the greatest. And if any of you are ever in in the Lincoln / Omaha are, I owe you a beer and a meal.

(Selling lots of spare parts, FYI. See FS&W)

Looks great ,well done ,

Dave, great result! I am the same way, I prefer to do all of my own work. Even things I'm not good at or have never done before. Yours turned out amazing. ;)

Thanks everybody. Gonna get choked up. The paint is not great, but I learned so much on this car, from welding to painting.

I’m buzzing around Lincoln, Nebraska tonight, hitting fall or Halloween parties. Top stowed, woodsmoke in the air.

I have similar plans. I hope it's not a 10 year plan, at least to get it running. Getting done may be 10 years, I'm ankle deep in two wiring harnesses right now so you are a ray of hope!

Unfortunately the wire harnesses have taken me longer to sort than any other one aspect of my current X build. These electrical systems are a real mess. o_O

When your image is uploaded, There is a an option after you select insert image for full image. We need photos of your engine. Great job, on doing it all your self. In am 64 and just starting to push my self to do more work on my cars.
I installed my own carpet on my X1/9. It was a kit from Midwest. Was not a fun project with less than satisfying results.

Thanks. One thing at a time. And eventually it will be done.

Ron, your carpet came out looking great. So don't stop there, keep trying to do new things for yourself. Yes it can get frustrating, but that only means we are learning. To quote the infamous Sterling Archer, "as long as we learn something from it then it wasn't a mistake".....

Thanks for the encouragement. I think my biggest frustration, is I should have purchased, the $700 carpet kit.
Instead of the $300. It would have fit much better, and had more area’s precut. I do agree about pushing myself to do more projects. I have been doing that on more of my cars. My mechanic always tells me, start with the simplest solution to fixing a problem. And then go from there. So that is what I have been applying.
