My Spider is finally on the way to me

save your self some major head ach and just move out of any homeowners associations. Do youtube/google searches on the people who live under their rules.
Yeah, that would be nice but not possible. Bought this house just over a year ago. Didn't know it was in a HOA until escrow; the seller claimed it didn't have one. Turns out she just hadn't paid it for 6 years.

Wow. That would have been a deal breaker for Me. But I am draging your topic in a non-fiat direction.

Hmmm maybe you could prove that it run's drives by going sideway's around their corners.. Hmmmm ::smiles:: maybe better not.. but the thought has some fun to it.

Non op likely means not registered. If it was registered they likely woudn't care. I need to get my new car registered or I may run afoul of my neighbors who will turn me in to the township...

You'd think that, but actually the CR&Rs don't define "inoperable" at all. So on the one hand, they can just claim it is while I can just refute it and say "it isn't".
Kind of a silly loophole, but there you are.

Now is that steering wheel worth anything? :) I also hate the slot mag wheels. Can't wait till payday so I can get something else.

I have some steering wheels. Stock and after market. Reasonable, like to see them go to good use. If your interested Nestleboon at hotmail . com

Austin, the steering wheel appears to be a vintage '60s/'70s Personal brand wheel -- a fairly popular period addition. As to value, maybe $150 or so if it was perfect. Yours probably has severely worn leather, which is why it was given one of those cheap plastic covers. In that case, it might be worth $25 to someone who can restore it.

Good luck with the car -- there are several of us 850 owners in the Southern California area.

As Professor Farnsworth would say, "Good news, everyone!" My Spider is registered and legal. VIN verification guy walked me through getting it done, as well as doing the research to be certain it wasn't stolen or previously junked. So at least now I can begin working on it without fear of wasting my time or money. Thanks for everyone's input and suggestions.

Fantastic, congrats! Must be a huge sigh of relief, I'm sure.
Thanks, yes! I'm extremely happy to be able to move ahead. The seller claimed no knowledge, of course, but also failed to come through on his promise to help pay for the VIN verification specialist, so who knows where the truth lies.

Now I really hope to have her road-trip worthy by Nov 5 and the Best of France and Italy, but that's a stretch.

Normally, I'm no fan of vanity plates but I couldn't pass this one up.
