I'm trying to track down a couple of photos, which I ran across online, last year, of a later-model evolution of an X, which (I believe) was produced in Brazil, or possibly elsewhere in South America. This car wasn't explicitly described as an X, but it sure looked like it was - it had integrated bumpers, and slightly different tail-lights, but the resemblance was more than familial! Any info? Thanks! Stephen White<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->I think the X-clone you are referring to is the Dardo. I would suggest that you search the archives here... there were pictures posted.

I'm sure that a web search would turn up some hits as well.

I seem to recall that someone in the British club owned one, but I may be wrong.

Cheers,

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Yes, do a search on that word and you will get all the previous discussions from this forum regarding the Dardo. It was a car made in Brazil, for just a couple few years, under license from Fiat by an independent Brazilian company. If I recall correctly, It was a tube-chassis and fiberglass body with a Fiat engine and many X components (or items modeled directly from) and has several differences from the X, but many similarities as well. BTW Dardo is Portuguese for "Dart".

Dardo pics are really scarce on the web, even the slightest bit of info on them has been very hard to find online until relatively recently. There is a pic or two of Dardos in the WorldWide Survey pages on the UK X1/9 Owners Club site (but I don't think the owner is in Britain) - and most notably to our forum - last year we had a few visits from Euclydes Rocco Jr (we quickly adopted the nickname "Rocco" for him) from Sao Paulo, Brazil, who told us some background on the cars and shared here in the forum a few good pics of his yellow Dardo.

There was also a large British car mag article on the Dardo (and on a car called the Montserrat, which was even an evolution of the Dardo itself!) that used to be up on the site here, but I think it has come off the servers a long while back. I could dig it up and repost it if there is enough interest. Rocco's Dardo pics have been moved off the forum archives and are now on permanent display in the SeaX Photo Gallery, under the section 1999 Scrapbook. Check 'em out, it's very interesting to see. -Mac.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

I would love to see the Drado article you mentioned.
The new facelift for the site is great. Thanks for a great job. I do surf among the many X sites. There is none that even gets close to this one in content, action and depth of knowledge.
