I've recently purchased a 79 X with a couple of other cash poor partners. Our short term goal is to have fun autoXing but keep the car streetable for some weekend driving also. The car had 90% of it's emissions system disabled by the previous owner(s). Consequently, most of it UH... fell off last weekend. We now have the crankcase vent leading nowhere (previously vented to the air cleaner/carb) and the valve sucking fresh air to the exhaust (based on the Haynes manual) (previously leading from the air filter) open as well. We have the K&N open air filter and an exhaust header on order. My question. What do we do with these openings. I assume the crankcase vent needs to stay but what is the best way to do this since we are losing the stock air filter. Also the exhaust fresh air intake; do we plug this? If so how. Many other questions but this one is long enough. Any advice is appreciated. <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->I had a '79 that I took off all the emission junk. I ordered a nice chrome crankcase vent filter from JCWhitney (around $8 if I remember) and only had to modify the hose on the front of the engine to fit the filter. I've seen in some of the Fiat books a K & N 'filtercharger' on some of the motors. Never tried to get one, so I don't know if they're still available. No adverse effects and I liked the idea of NOT sending crankcase fumes back into my shiny new carb and intake valves
