NW Spring Gathering Chehalis, WA: May 30 2009

wish I could have been there

myself as well but was pretty much consumed with settling/unpacking from last week's house move. Hope to catch the next one. Wayne thanks for hosting once more (btw did you happen to see my pic of the 75 in her new home on the move thread in df? :D )

A good time was had by all...

Jake from Bremerton...piloting the former Eric Allen Armstrong X.
FI car with 1300 engine cover looks great.
Sporting Jake's new Daytonas...direct from Italy via Ebay.
Brave man to send big bucks over seas.

Peter Mahr's "sublime" '74...his daily driver since the '70s.
Looking good Peter!

Last hurrah for former LezesigX...Mellow Yellow.
Looking sharp with fresh detail, sans Daytonas, now sporting detailed CD91s,
sans exteraneous engine bay appointments.
Purity of single carb, stainless hardware,
and no silver blanket on forward bulkhead.
Unseen are many hours to nuke rust,
and resurrect from 3 years in non-op storage.
Gasp! LesX had rust? Yes...surprising to find,
but find it I did...and nuked it.
3 months of solid thrashing to get it shipshape for new owner.
Meanwhile, I'm driving it daily.

JohnAllen in my former 300ZX TT.
Was great to see and hear it...sound of door closing...sound of motor.
Good memories.
JA put the optional 8.5" rims on all corners.
Looks killer. John, bring it by for a fluff/buff and we'll get the paint glowing again.

Brent Barber with Teal X.
Aye...a dicotomy of a car.
Custom pearl paint and custom interior looks great.
But daemon rust has taken hold...scabbies abound.

Brent's buddy Don, is a kindred soul.
We exchanged several tales of anal retentive detailing.
While Brent looked on...thinking we're both crazy.

MSRichmond and son David showed up for good times.

Even Sir Geo. Emery made the trek to Wayne's,
piloting some kinda generic sh*tbox.
Had to leave early to go plant Fava Beans...

Wayne's wife, Sandy, made her famous chili.
Even tho' it was warm day, Sandy's chili was great.

And finally, our host, Wayne hisownself...has found his calling.
Restoring a classic mid '70s GMC motorhome.
Highly advanced FWD, Olds Toronado powered, fiberglass bodied, air suspension.
I've been a fan of those for a long time.
Ideal machine for Wayne. Not only for the
motor home club gatherings,
but more so in connecting with owners of classic motor homes,
who are generally into the tech side of things.
Wayne has a lot to share, and is having fun getting into a new culture.
Bless Sandy for supporting Wayne's new project,
while sacrificing her usual need for new motorhome
every couple years! Yikes...

Will unload pics from buddy Jeff Gebhard,
as soon as I have 'em.

pics from Wayne's Garage...

LesX...version 2.
Maiden voyage after 3 years sitting,
and 100+ hours of resurrection.
Bad brakes, intermittent no-start, high rev miss,
rust...all resolved for trouble free test run.

Faza Daytona exhaust is too loud for this ol' dude.
Going back to stock exhaust.
Rides nicely on KYB/IAP and new 175/70s.
Addco front bar, Momo 320mm.
Sans wheelspats, moonroof, Daytonas...
