One of our cats had a stroke :(

True Classic
Past few days have been a little rough. I have become used to having pets as an adult - and one of our boys had a stroke on Tues evening, we found out after taking him ASAP to the animal hospital. They said it was a Saddle Thrombosis. He recovered enough overnight for them to feel he has a chance at recovery, although he will still only live 6-12months if we are lucky.

This is Angus, aged 7 years

Saddle Thrombosis, clot to the back affecting the rear legs.
If he recovers movement, there may be medication to help prevent another clot.
I'm not a doctor, but you should inquire. Wishing the best...

Sorry to hear this kind of news.
They are not pets.....they are family. Wishing you & your "kids" the best.

Yes - he will be on heart meds for how ever long he has left. They are hopefully he will recover since it was a partial clot - still had minimal mobility in the right leg - and we got him to the hospital within an hour of the event. Thank goodness it happened at home, he was an indoor/outdoor cat, now he will have to suffer the indoors.

Very glad to hear that recovery looks viable, do savor all the time you have left with Angus (which is hopefully quite a lot!). We just lost our 13-year-old golden retriever last year... pets can bring our hearts such fulfillment, but also crush them flat.
