Parking/Emergency Brake Cable R & R

How about when you want to release the brake, pull up hard on the lever and then press the button?
No change unfortunately. Maybe this works differently in an X, but on my Saab I press the release and and raise and lower the ebrake without it catching. With the X I can't depress the button with just one thumb to move the brake without the ratchet catching even in its released (down) state. Equally difficult when its fully engaged.

OK - solved it. I had already sprayed PB Blaster at the button, but after typing out the problem I went back, took off the boot, and got a good spray on the ratchet, and then I stuck the PB Blaster straw up the underside of the lever pointing towards the button and gave it a good long spray, and now its good and loose. Feels great to be able to use the ebrake while driving, and no wrenching necessary! I should have thought of this earlier. Thanks for the help.
