On the other side, the radiator is in the way, but I don't completely remove it. Just slack the bolts holding the radiator in at the bottom, completely removing the one on the side that's in the way. Have a wood block or something handy to prop under the loose side of the radiator, and let it relax down onto the block. Then you should be able to weasel the other shock bolt out and just put the radiator back up. That's how it went on my '80 anyway. Results may vary

I don't know whether it would be safe (?) to cut into one of those shocks (?) - Besides, taking the bottom bolt off the rad and moving it down a little is really quite easy... and you'd still have the shocks in case someone on the forum was looking for some
It really isn't even the radiator that is in the way, it is the little thermo sensor on the radiator. It is right in the way of the big bumper shock bolt head on the right hand side. Hardly takes a nudge to move the rad clear though. -Mac.

I intend to source some rubber plugs (like you'd see plugging holes in the floorpan) that are the diameter of the hole and use that. I intend to source some rubber plugs (like you'd see plugging holes in the floorpan) that are the diameter of the hole and use that. That way the mod is still reversible if I want to change it back someday. Steve Ambrose's X has the kind of plugs I am talking about... The orange bumperless 1500 in this gallery is his. -Mac.
