I know that some X1/9 owners own multiple Fiats, usually a 124 Spider . Today is a sad day for those fans. Studio head and designer Sergio Pininfarina passed away last night. I think he is the last head designer from that classical period to leave us. There's a small story on Autoblog.com, but I'm sure every Ferrari, Alfa and other Italian car site will be celebrating this mans career.

I will take my Spider for a top down cruise tonight with nothing but the exhaust note for background accompaniment.

I got to meet him in person at Concorso Italiano many years ago. he used my old Alfa spider in his presentation. Was quite an experience for me to be the first car to be called up to the stage and to have to part the crowd. He gave me a signed copy of a limited edition history of Pinnin farina book. I was the envy of the other Alfista that day. He was a class act.
