Setting timing?

If I am setting timing after belt replacement, Should the the tl pick up be on #4 plug wire or #1.
I have done this before and can't remember.
Great memory, but very short

It doesn't matter because #1 and #4 pistons move together - either way you'll get a flash every other revolution of the crank and the crank timing marks will be at the same place at the moment of the flash. (The camshaft turns at half the crank speed so you will see a half-revolution difference if just for grins you point the timing light at the cam pulley).

When you are setting the initial static timing by positioning the distributor, then you do have fire #4 cylinder.
