Simple pleasures of 850 motoring

Though I try to run non-ethanol fuel I was forced to take on $10.00 at the local Chevron station, this gave me 1/2 a tank!

As a side note when I was a young lad in the late 60’s my brother had a new Sprite which had a 6 gallon tank if I recall correctly, $2 would fill it!

Back in the late 70's I was in High school, gas hit $1.00 a gallon for the first time. Remember back in the day's when the pumps could only go to .99 and we had lines to buy the gas? Any ways being in high school my 850 was more often then not broken while I worked on coming up with money for parts. So I had traded the hard top from the 850 for a 600, so having two Fiat to keep on the road odds were I would have at least on running. So one day my friends and I wanted to go "cruzing" So we drained the fuel from all of our fuel tanks. Came up with almost a gallon between their 3 cars and were able to drive all day on it. Figure we were getting about 30 MPG which in the 1970's was about as good as it gets.
