SOHC with a Ferrari head

I think years ago Romeo Ferraris used to race 128s and X1/9s. I'm sure I've seen a 16v head for the SOHC engine made by them.
Anyway they are still in business ..

The head sounds interesting but what kind of trans did that car have in it? Not likely the paddles were connected to a Fiat 4 or 5 speed.

Yes, Romeo Ferraris built race engines for sports racers based on the 128 block. There are 2 or 3 pages about this in the Faza book.
He also developed racing V8s for boats.

They say the engine in that car is a 2L. We're there Euro versions of the SOHC in a 2L? Or is it just a custom race engine?

No, the largest displacement was 1.6L.
But there was a long stroke 1.6 and a short stroke 1.6.
If you combine those you can get 1.85-1.9 L.
With some more extreme combinations you can get to 2L.

As I recall this topic was discussed, years ago. It might be in the archives or N54 archives. As I remember the idea of using a 308 head on an X block, was discussed, but something about oil or coolant passages not lining up, or some other detail.
