Something different happening lately

The last couple of days I've noticed when I log into the site the "bell" symbol in the upper right hand corner briefly lights up with a red number....indicating there are new alerts for me to view. However in the past that red number remained until I clicked on each new post. Now the number only flashes on for a very brief instant, then disappears. Basically I have to click on the "bell" to see what alerts I might have. Anyone else experiencing this? Any obvious reasons why, or how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Mine shows a constant number when I log on to the site. It does not disappear until I click on the bell.

This is how it appears for me. Note that once the count bell goes away after the first click, highlighted items in the notifications list remain highlighted until each is viewed. Not sure if this is a behavior change but it seems consistent at least.

Thanks for the feedback from everyone. Yes, that is how mine has always worked previously, until the last few days. That is why I posted about it...this is a change from the normal function. That being said, just now when I logged onto the forum the number remained visible until I clicked on the 'bell' - like it should. So I'll wait to see if it continues to function correctly or not. Hopefully it was only a temporary glitch.
