Something else for the "new old exxie" checklist

There's this set of things that you always do when another X1/9 follows you home and you don't know much about the previous owners: Replace all fluids including hydraulic, replace timing belt, check all ball joints, check all rubber boots in the suspension and steering, check alignment, check hood and rear trunk release cables, brake pads and rotors.
Here's another one. The throttle return springs on the cambox cover... Take a look at them... check them for corrosion/fatigue/brittleness... chances are they are as old as the car.

And if they break the throttle sticks open. This is not good.
(although no one was hurt and the car ended up coasting to a safe spot by the side of the road once the engine was cut off... it didn't have to turn out that way).
