Temp gauge rising

If you have the tool for removing the terminals. You could remove the terminal you want to add the wire to. wrap the new wire around the factory crimp, solder, return the terminal to the block. done, neat, clean.

Ok, update! Manual fan switch is wired (with minimal spade connectors), stant superstat thermostat is installed and quite possibly the most significant was the install of a “new to me” expansion tank from Tony K with a new stant 13lb cap.
I idled the car up to temp a couple days ago and the temp did not go a tad over 190. When the throttle was blipped, the temp dipped downward! Will know for sure how it reacts when under load in the next couple weeks as the weather here in Ontario Canada improves but so far so good!

It tends to dip when you raise the rpm due to greater flow as the engine speed raises.

I find if the temp is creeping up after coming off the highway or other activity, holding the idle up a bit will reduce the temps.

Congrats and good luck.

As an aside, I must have missed the update about the insulated surface in the background. What’s the story there?

That is a heat shield for my “cold air” intake.
