I once cleaned my radiator chemically with POOL ACID. Muratic to be specific.
I taped one end and filled the radiator with a gallon on acid. Let it "boil" for awhile and then flushed with a hose... added a solution of a box of baking soda and water to neutralize it.
Worked pretty well.
CAUTION... the acid could EAT the whole damn thing away and could affect other parts. If you do this work outside... with a hose, and goggles and gloves... and check your progress every 15 minutes... you can have a ball.
DON'T try to clean your carb using this method... a long sad story is associated with this one...

This time it was Sulphuric Acid I keep in a plastic tub for parts cleaning and stripping...
So I took the carb apart and sipped it... I don't know what a Weber is made of... but I got quite a "reaction".
After 15 minutes I pulled it out and hosed it off and it was pretty clean... So I went for the gusto and dipped it back in... Then got distracted doing other things.
After about an hour I went back to the tub and it was WARM... I pulled the parts and hosed them off... then blew them out. Looked like a NEW carb... I was pleased!
Next I sat down to put it back together and the screws wouldn't screw in... I must have the wrong ones... noooooo, this is right... then I looked real close... Next I held it up to the light and I could actually see LIGHT through the sides of the carb... It hadn't been in there more than an hour, though.
The acid had eaten away all the threads and had now attacked the body itself... I could've crushed the whole thing in my hand!
I bought 2 junkers from Derrick and built one good one outta the three of them. A relatively CHEAP lesson... I thought I was gonna be out 250 - 300 bucks!
So... if ya want a REAL fast carb cleaner... I can recommend the fastest chemicals...
Sooooo, those better be TEARS of ANGUISH yur cryin', and not TEARS of LAUGHTER! I do (have some idea) where you live!

I once cleaned my radiator chemically with POOL ACID. Muratic to be specific.
I taped one end and filled the radiator with a gallon on acid. Let it "boil" for awhile and then flushed with a hose... added a solution of a box of baking soda and water to neutralize it.
Worked pretty well.
CAUTION... the acid could EAT the whole damn thing away and could affect other parts. If you do this work outside... with a hose, and goggles and gloves... and check your progress every 15 minutes... you can have a ball.
DON'T try to clean your carb using this method... a long sad story is associated with this one...

This time it was Sulphuric Acid I keep in a plastic tub for parts cleaning and stripping...
So I took the carb apart and sipped it... I don't know what a Weber is made of... but I got quite a "reaction".
After 15 minutes I pulled it out and hosed it off and it was pretty clean... So I went for the gusto and dipped it back in... Then got distracted doing other things.
After about an hour I went back to the tub and it was WARM... I pulled the parts and hosed them off... then blew them out. Looked like a NEW carb... I was pleased!
Next I sat down to put it back together and the screws wouldn't screw in... I must have the wrong ones... noooooo, this is right... then I looked real close... Next I held it up to the light and I could actually see LIGHT through the sides of the carb... It hadn't been in there more than an hour, though.
The acid had eaten away all the threads and had now attacked the body itself... I could've crushed the whole thing in my hand!
I bought 2 junkers from Derrick and built one good one outta the three of them. A relatively CHEAP lesson... I thought I was gonna be out 250 - 300 bucks!
So... if ya want a REAL fast carb cleaner... I can recommend the fastest chemicals...
Sooooo, those better be TEARS of ANGUISH yur cryin', and not TEARS of LAUGHTER! I do (have some idea) where you live!
