Timing belt tension??

I note about rubber timing belts. Its never a good idea to retention a belt if its been run for a while. Or if the belt has run with too little tension. If I am doing something that requires removing the belt I replace it. If I find a belt that is too loose/tight or is otherwise suspect, I replace it.

And Daniel, I think your broken cam sprocket bolt was just bad luck with a bolt that failed. The bolt should have backed out before it broke the head off. If the bolt has the proper torque then it will easily turn the motor in either direction without tightening or loosening the bolt from the cam.
