For no particular reason, other than I feel nostalgic. I wish I could play this guitar lick...

sorry guys been away for a few days...

I'll take those in when I have more time to give them fair consideration. But will say for now TLR, that it probably does appear that I am more a "metal guy" but the truth is I am more of a "feel" kind of guy. Besides what is metal? Some stuff called metal is just rock all dressed up as metal and some stuff is so disjointed it is unlistenable to me. Anyway, regardless of whether it's metal, country, rap, pop, classical, bluegrass - whatever - it really is a song by song thing for me.

How's this for diversity? Three of my all time fave CDs are "Come on Come on" by Mary Chapin Carpenter, Sedona Suite by Tom Barabas, and Master of Puppets by Metallica. Then there's Bach's "Toccata and Fugue" (the "heavy metal" masterpiece of classical music, IMHO) which is probably my most favorite piece of music.:worship:

Thanks for the links...I will check them all out!

Wow! He sounds like a Spanish Blackie Lawless!

That's just too cool, thanks for sharing the link! Of course now I will be spending hours checking out other links for this and other similar bands.

Ever heard of this band?

talk about a blast from the past

Is that one of the most recognizable voices from that era or what? Of course now I gotta see their greatest hit. Might have to look at a few Ohio Players vids too. Nicely played Mark!

Reggie Watts'

I heard a Reggie Watts song this week (my first intro to his music) and it's been stuck in my head since. It is new though and I couldn't find it on youtube. Another one I liked is posted below. I'm sure the style isn't for everyone, but what is? He's a musician / commedian and some of his stuff can be quite funny. It can also be quite vulgar, which I'm not a big fan of, so you've been warned. Here's a link to a Conan performance that likely wouldn't offend many: http://youtu.be/es3H0_IMLvo

I guess he's been around and sort of main stream for a couple years now, so this isn't new, but it was new to me and I thought I'd share.

Try as might, I can't get into either of these.

But, on the Reggie Watts videos, for some reason I am reminded of similar sound effects used in David Bowie's "Fame"

Thanks so much for posting this!

For me, on the NFC side of things this is by far the most valuable post. If you have the time to fully digest this article, I would highly recommend it. It's amazing how much of this music that will seem familiar from everything such as childhood cartoons, movies, and even commercials. And you can definitely hear alot of it in todays melodic hard rock too.

This makes the effort to get NFC back all worth it!

This piece here just floors me...

This is what stokes it for me:

...wish I could play guitar and sing like this. I've got a few more hard years to live and booze to swill, though...

I like that too...

That's very cool, what a great vibe that has. I love that style of guitar and it's even better live. My rhapsody account is loaded with alot of spanish music and it's about to get alot more. Thanks for the intro!

TPOH

I first rode in an x in 85, when a friend of mine had one in high school. It's funny, because when I first started thinking about buying one, I also started looking for my 'Pursuit of Happiness' tape. We would wear that thing out driving around on spring nights with the top off, and heater blasting (Michigan springs are chilly, can I get a witness?!).

Came across this tonight, and it was just a great reminder of all those times.

The first video I ever remember seeing....

....before MTV, on 'Video Jukebox' on HBO. Thought it was GREAT. Michael Nesmith actually won the first Grammy in the Video of the Year category with the compilation VHS that contained this video.
