Twin 40 DCNF-12 Weber carburetor float parts availability?

Chump

Low Mileage
1974/5 X1/9. Bought the dual conversion kit from "undisclosed business" awhile back, don't like to rain on bad employee's! The carb arrived with the manifolds on upside down, the first warning sign, later after major jetting issues, we discovered that both float bowls were corroded and completely irreparable....return was denied, so be it.

Left the Fiat restoration at the time to tackle an '88 Supra Turbo my dad gifted my wife, but I am now back chasing this carb! I have yet to find a distributor for parts to repair the floats! At this point I am looking at going back to a single setup for the re-manufactured 1500 purchased from Midwest Bayless.

Basically looking for a parts source(carb) or best recommendation for a single carb on the 1500! Trying to dig up the paperwork on the mods MB did to the engine, we went with a mild tune.

Thanks again to all!

I feel your pain with the whole experience. Unfortunately it can be a common occurrence it seems.

Here are a couple possible sources for DCNF parts. I did not look specifically for the items you need, so cannot say for sure if any of them have it. There are a couple other Weber part sources but the links I have are old and no longer work, so either the sites have changed or they may not be around any more. But another direction you can try is the air cooled VW performance world - they love DCNF's.

Looks like Pierce has the float. I visited their shop in the early 90s to get some jets and recently I ordered some DCNF/DCOE banjo fitting gaskets from their web site. I've had good results with them.

If you are looking for a decent single carb, the 34 DMTR or DATRA work great, basically a bigger version of the 32s that came on early Xs. I agree that Pierce should have the parts you need.

On the subject of a single carb. If you are only able to assemble one good DCNF from the pair you have, consider getting a manifold to utilize a single DCNF on the X. There are a couple companies that started making them again. Great combination in my opinion.

Had the above set up, jetted properly on my '74. With a nice aftermarket exhaust, that combo was perfect. Never a problem in ANY weather, sounded awesome and the increase in performance was very gratifying.

What companies offer these single DCNF manifolds Doc? Also, will they work with a 36 or a 40?

They should work with any DCNF.
We have a couple of forum members with companies that are making them. There may be other sources as well.

Here are the two that participate here:

The website for this one isn't current, you'll have to contact Andrea for the details on the manifold.
