Weight of a 1500and 5 speed

Anyone know what a drivetrain weighs" 1500 with the5speed attached clutch flywheel starter accessories intake but no exhaust...I'm think around 300lbs...I figure someone here prolly knows pretty close

Mark

That figure sounds light, my guess is over 400 but I have never weighed them.

Mark... the 5-speed trans is 90 pounds DRY...

The entire car is about 2210 lbs... I am only sure of the 5 speed's weight but 300 is way too low for the entire drive-train. Hopefully someone knows for sure. I can only assume you are shipping or receiving one...

The 5 speed weighs about 90lbs when first lifting it back on the block, then an hour later, while still trying, it weights 400lbs.

I'll be pulling one in the next couple weeks and I have a hanging scale I bought to weigh it so stand by and we'll have a good number.

I find it hard to believe that the 5 speed is 90lbs dry. I'm hardly muscular and I managed to lift one onto my nearly 4' high workbench. That said, it hasn't left the bench since I got it up there! LOL

Well... I lied a little... 91 pounds is what it weighed...

when I packed mine in TWO layers of regular cardboard and shipped it to NYC via FedEx Ground about 15 years ago... for about 50 cents a pound.

They may have gained or lost some weight over the years... I know I have!

I know the 5 speed in my front wheel drive Ford Escort ZX2 weighs 98lbs, so I'd think the Fiat trans is comparable.

Weight loss

Tony... you lost weight...????

Or am I miss reading your post?

Tell me more.

TonyK.

GEEZ... GIVE ME A BREAK!

HA!

I said... "They may have gained or lost some weight over the years... I know I have!"

And that has been true as well for ME! Around mid year I had lost 35 of the 100 I needed to loose and then gained back 20 and have now lost about 10 again. A real yo-yo pattern and I have my excuses. I really need continued comradery to make this work. The VA now has a "Tele-MOVE" program I signed up for... and they've sent me a book, a scale and a pedometer so far... and assigned a nurse to follow my case.

I'll be called EACH day by an automated source and then my responses are tracked and analyzed by the nurse... who will hopefully keep me on track.I sure wish I had YOUR energy as I'm sure you can just SIT THERE and never gain a pound!

Yur a lucky guy!

Ya know Rob... you don't wanna haveta bypass I-5...

on your way up to Mike's... I have friends locally in the CHP. You may haveta take Route 1 if ya keep this up. Just sayin'...

165 Kg or 364 Lbs with oil in the engine and tranny so somewhere around 355-360Lbs dry.

Thanks Brian

Hey Brian. Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to do this and post. It's great info for the archives.

But....just for the record - I assume from your signature that this is for a 1980 carbed 1500 and 5 speed ?

And is this complete with starter/alternator/stock intake and exhaust manifolds/carb/air cleaner/etc ?

And with or without air pump and associated crap ?

A/C or nonAC ?

Thanks again, Doug

No problem Doug, I wanted the info as well. I'm not sure of the year but it is FI, all stock.

Thank you for weighing it - one question: does the weight displayed include the crossbeam and chain weight or was those items tared out of the scale?
