What did you do to your X1/20 today ?

True Classic
I took it to a local Cars & Coffee in East Peoria IL.
It was pretty hot and humid but there were a bunch of cool cars there. No other Lancias but one VERY nice X. (It makes the Lancia look HUGE by comparison. But it isn't really.)

I think bright primary colors look great on our cars (X1/9’s) and Scorpeans,Montecarlo, and the Alfa Romeo Montreal, plus the Stratos

Removed the hideously icky carpet out of# 209... to reveal the floor pans are not too bad at all, some surface rust and road bumps from previous road adventures. What was also revealed, the amount of USA market add-ons that need to be removed.. including the vast amount of brake plumbing that was a bad idea from day one.

The proper place for the icky carpet.

Next up, USA market add-ons removal..

so #209 was white originally?

please document your USA market add-on removal. Especially around the crazy warning lights in the driver's footwell.

# 209 was originally metallic silver. Repainted in red Dupont Imron about mid 1980's.

Wiring diagrams can be found:

and the Wiki:

Not ready to deal with that just yet... not gonna be a lotta fun.

You lucked out on the floor pans being intact. If the cowl drain hoses are
the flimsy originals REPLACE THEM! They run from the cowls, then into
the interior foot wells then exit to dump water on the ground. Bad design.
Replace the hoses with 3/4” heater hose. Save your floor pans!

Shift rod bushing that lives in the lower X-member.

Bushing installed, ~0.002" press fit.

Test shifter mock up. Shifts good, clutch now working after flushing decades young fluid out of the tubes
followed by fluid re-fill. There are no remaining polymer ball joints or polymer bushings in the shifter.

Have a plan for the transmission sensors? There’s 3. One for emissions (5th gear?). One reverse sensor for reverse lights. I ditched all 3 (have no reverse lights) and used proper plugs which takes awhile finding correct threads.

Only one switch on the transaxle is planned, the reverse light switch.

Plugs not an issue, then can be made as needed. Just like replacing the heater hose outlet on the Lampredi TC cylinder head which was a M20x1.5 tapered thread.

So far the volume of stuff added (discovered !!!!!) the the USA market scorpion is remarkable in every way. Most of that stuff will need to get "extracted" in one way or another...

Getting that out was PITA in the car with cam towers installed.

You removed the HVAC box under the dash?

HVAC box, not there yet.. Given this was a AC option HVAC box with those horrid push button controls that have failed on every brand of moto that use it.. likely all that is gonna come out never to return.

Did have a quick look at the wiring diagram.. wow, just wow.
There is SO much stuff specific to US of A smog and other add ons. At some point will need to decide how much of this will need to be
dissected out of their wiring harness while the interior is out. Or make an entire new wiring set from scratch.

My recommendation is to use the existing wiring and remove the excess back from the removed gizmos. And 50 yards of the fiber optic dash lightning wire.

Ditching the HVAC controls is also another mile of vacuum hoses and the vacuum storage bottle in engine compartment with bracket.
