Better economy? More power? More revs?

All of these can be acheived by tuning the carb, or by using an alternative carb.

What is the carb type, size and code?<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->You need to check more than just the choke size I'm afraid.

In general the venturi size relative to the choke size is going to be the important bit. These are variable with different sizes available (at a cost).

Keep in mind that Ford prefer their engines to develop power lowdown - that means that the carbs are going to provide more optimal fuelling at relatively low air flow, this would require smaller choke and venturi than would probably be obvious - that's just one of the reasons why Ford's tend to respond VERY well to bigger carbs.

Even if I am completely wrong, don't forget that it is easy to over size the carb which will destroy any idle you may have and the rest of the low revs power.

The jets and emulsion tubes can be changed easily to suit the fuelling requirements of course - that is the simple bit (getting them right may not)<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->A 1600 carb would be the closest match but the top of the carb is probably round, so the the air box could be a problem, as Julian said you woulden't gain anything.
